RURK (Radical Universal Roleplay Kit) is an Android companion application for the RURK tabletop role-playing game system, developed by Evgenii Lisovskii (the «Developer»). This document explains exactly what information the app handles. Short version: no personal data leaves your device; the app cannot reach any server controlled by the Developer.
RURK declares the following Android permissions in its manifest:
android.permission.INTERNETandroid.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEandroid.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATEandroid.permission.CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATEThese permissions are used exclusively for the optional local Wi-Fi multiplayer feature: when a game master and players are sitting at the same table and connected to the same local Wi-Fi network, the app can establish a peer-to-peer link between their devices to share session timers, dice rolls, clues, and short text messages. Specifically:
ServerSocket on a system-assigned port and publishes a service via Android's Network Service Discovery (NSD) with the name RURK-<PIN>, where <PIN> is a 4-digit code shown only on the master's screen.TIMER:60, ROLL:42, CLUE:…, TXT:…) directly between each other. You can use the entire application without ever activating the local-multiplayer feature; in that case no network traffic is generated at all.
To make the app useful, the app saves the following on your device only, using Android's standard DataStore Preferences and the app's private file storage:
This data never leaves the device. It is deleted automatically when you uninstall RURK. There is no cloud sync, no automatic backup to the Developer's servers, no telemetry of any kind.
Google Play backup: Android's standard auto-backup feature, if enabled by the user in their Google Account settings, may include the app's data directory in the user's encrypted Google Drive backup. This is a service operated by Google, governed by Google's own privacy policy; the Developer has no access to it. You can disable auto-backup for RURK in your Android system settings at any time.
RURK allows you to import custom content (modules, scenarios, images) from your device's file system using Android's standard Storage Access Framework / Photo Picker. When you do so:
RURK contains literary content (vignettes, story fragments) intended for an adult audience and discussing themes such as violence, mortality, and the supernatural in a tabletop-RPG context. The app is suitable for ages 16+ in our classification. Because no personal data is collected from any user regardless of age, RURK is automatically compliant with COPPA, GDPR-K, and analogous regulations protecting children's privacy.
The literary content of RURK (lore, vignettes, characters, settings, including but not limited to the «ORPP» modern paranormal Russia setting and the «Eternal City» fantasy setting) is original work by the Developer and contributors. Any resemblance to real persons, institutions, brand names, or works in third-party copyright is either coincidental, used as historical or cultural reference under fair-use principles, or licensed.
If you are a rights-holder with a concern about any specific piece of content, write to elyssov@gmail.com and the matter will be resolved promptly.
If a future version of RURK ever introduces analytics, ads, online sync, or any other data-collection mechanism that this policy does not currently disclose, this policy will be updated to disclose precisely what is collected and why, and an in-app notice will be shown before any such data leaves your device.
